Carved Wood Lazy Susan w/ Sterling Footed Wood Salad set.
Entertaining? This midcentury ensemble is great for parties, events or just entertaining the family at home, a real conversation piece. Is the scene around the edge Tahiti or Fiji or Hawaii?
(SHIPPING
All 10 pieces will be packed into one box which will be heavy due to the wood Lazy Suzan. I have to "guess" the anticipated packed weight and package size in order to finish this listing. Please wait to pay so that I can get it packed and find the BEST rate. That way I can inventory you the correct price and you won't overpay. Items are available for local pickup if you are able to do that. IF the actual shipping is not suitable, you can cancel the order, I am fine with that. Thank you. Hilda. burwoodhallgolfbnb. )
c1950 Entertaining Set includes Hand carved tropical wood "Lazy susan" with a scene carved around the edge, hand carved and large and heavy. Large carved wood bowl with sterling foot and matching fork/spoon with sterling handles Six (6) Glass deep angular dishes curved for a circle placement.
c1940-50 Lg Midcentury Turned Wood Salad Bowl with sterling foot hallmarked for Mueck-Carey Co. A silversmith in New York c1940-50, that made quality sterling items, some of which retail for high dollar. "Likely absorbed into Towle.". It was acquired with the matching carved wood fork and spoon that also has Sterling handles . The sterling printed on the handles is faint but can be seen.
Condition and size:
I see no cracks or physical damage to the items. The wood bowl is clean and I oil it lightly after each use with vegetable oil and then wipe with a dry paper towel. It is about 70-80 years old and has held up beautifully with only a slight wear to some of the exterior varnish . I do not know the kind of wood but it has to have been made with consideration for food use. The bowl measures 10" in diameter and about 5 high from table surface. It comes with a fork and spoon that have sterling handles. The utensils are approx. 11" long. I see no damage.
The Lazy Susan is large and heavy hand carved wood connected onto a pedestal that allows the top to rotate. It measures about 17 1/2" diameter and stands 4" from the surface to the table. Type of wood unknown. It is hand carved with a tropical scene around the edge. There are a couple stains on the top that I think could be sanded off and refinished if you like. It comes with six glass angular dishes that I use for condiments or chopped food that is added to the salad as desired (some folks don't like onions).
c1878 EAPG Lion Glass Bowl and footed Compote
Gillinder pressed glass has been admired by collectors due to the remarkable detail in the carving and controlled acid etching of the molded designs. As early as 1873, the factory had utilized etching acids. “Lion” was the first of these characteristic patterns. Introduced after the Centennial, the “Lion” pattern was available with lions posed in differing positions as finials on covers. Called Lion No. 1, Lion No. 2, or New Lion, the combinations were the lion sitting, the lion attached to a log and the lion head alone. All of the lions were etched with acid but the bases differed. Some were designed with plain cable feet while others had a collared etched border of sitting lions.

Our Church Store is the central retail point for accumulative gifts from all over the Nashville area. I buy them to help move product and bring them to the internet as a fun hobby for me, This item was in their high end boutique case.
I cannot sell for less than my cost plus anticipated ebay fees and mailing costs,
This one looks bench-made with lots of metalwork on the pendant. I am not a gemologist or jeweler, nor do I have the tools to test materials or know how to use those tools if I had them, I just know what looks like quality made items.
I don't see a hallmark but it cleaned up like sterling and feels like sterling.
Maker unknown, place of manufacture unknown, Date unknown
I don't see any indication that this is plated,
The stones look like turquoise and carnelian (or some other reddish stone).
Under magnification, it looks like the stones are actually a mosaic of smaller chips of the stone material, put together like a puzzle inside the bezel shape of the stone.
It looks like some kind of inlaid symbolic design of perhaps copper metal in the center turquoise stone (see pics)
The attached fringe pieces look& feel like leather and are removable,
The silver metal choker can be sized to fit smaller or large necks and for comfort,

Rare 1928 Book "Album de Cinelandia" - Beautiful PHOTOS of HOLLYWOOD Movie STARS
The Golden Era of Hollywood and the “birth” of the industry…. This book has been conserved with border paper tape on the paper cover and a plastic conservation cover over the original heavy paper cover, There is a gold stamp on the plastic dust cover that says “From the Strand RARE BOOK ROOM Est. 1927”. I bought this book retail from an antiques dealer that buys "containers" of antiques from Europe so I am not sure how the item went from CA to NYC to Europe and then back to TN. inside pages are clean and no damage that I could see. I saw no missing pages and the text pages/photo pages are still in the bound state (not loose).
According to the internet, this is a collectible book
(From the internet - “The Strand Bookstore is a legendary staple of New York City, boasting 18 miles of new, used, and rare books. Founded in 1927, it is a hub of culture and literature, tucked away in the East Village. Though thousands of people filter into the store everyday, not many know that its top floor is occupied by rare and collectible books, many of which are exorbitantly priced.”)
