Large Antique Chinese Hand painted Black Lacquer Box

Many layers of black Lacquer over cloth covered wood body makes up this large fitted box.

From a Nashville Estate and consigned to a high end consignment store.  It is as found. Please see the pictures because I am not an expert on Chinese lacquer work.  It looks to me like somekind of mesh was put over a base and then lacquered and decorated with design.

Age unknown.
