AMAZING ART GLASS BOWL
Bowl:
I can't find a signature... did it have a paper label?
Who made this? I do not know. To me it looks c1900 to 1930? and it shouts "I am an art glass bowl".... In researching the internet I found somewhat similar types and discussions about Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass or Loetz? ??? Some suggestions are that it is Steuben. Thank youj ebayers.
Age unknown
A Really Nice size bowl.... 9" diameter about 4 1/4" tall
This is a beautiful bowl I found in a Michigan Antiques Mall. The bowl is art glass and being glass it has a contradictory appearance in that it looks like hammered metal but in glass.
An odd textured appearance. Maybe others call it "orange peel" texture.
color is indescribable because it changes colors depending on the intensity of the light, or whether light is shining on it or through it from behind. Upside down on the table the outside of the bowl takes on a milky haze. In the dim light of the Dinning Room it takes on a opalescent sheen with hints of greens and reds and pearl white. When light shines down through the bowl it cast a little hint of red on the table. A yellow bowl casting red? This bowl does not react to a UV light so I am thinking this is NOT Uranium Glass (which I have several examples of that).
is Steuben or Loetz or Tiffany or ?? I see no damage .
c1870's Pittsburg Glass Feather Pattern Wine Bottle Handmade
unpacked 2 lbs 3 oz
stands 7.5" tall with a wide base, about 6" in diameter. The squatty design is reminiscent of bottles made for use on a ship
From my personal curated collection of early American Glass. This is the Feather Pattern featured in the Pittsburg Glass book now out of print.
This glass has a yellow tinge under UV light because of the early manufacturing makeup of the "metal" . I think I recall it is because they added manganese to the mix. You can see the handmade tooling on the lip, the copper wheel cut leaves, the rough unpolished pontil mark where the pipe was broken off. No damage seen. A beautiful example of 19th century American Glass. Decant wine into it and enjoy.
c1960 House of Representatives Crystal bowl by Fostoria
unpacked 5 lbs 6 oz
Fostoria Crystal Ashtray from the House of Representatives bldg when smoking was no longer allowed.
Huge and Heavy. Measures 10" in diameter and 2" tall.
This beautiful crystal dish features a frosted American Great Seal emblem in the center and could be used on a hall table to collect keys, change or could be used to hold wrapped mints or candy. A beautiful piece of heavy crystal with an interesting provenance.
